For Professional Advisors

We Speak Your Language

Before law school, Mark earned a degree in finance and worked in the financial world. He reads a balance sheet, understands why you structured the portfolio the way you did, and builds estate plans that work with your planning instead of around it.

We do not manage assets, sell insurance, or sell investment products. Your client stays your client. Our lane is the legal work: wills, trusts, powers of attorney, Missouri qualified spousal trusts, asset-protection trusts, Medicaid crisis planning, and probate.

Our financial planning is with an advisor in St. Louis. If any of his clients needs the services of estate planning, I highly recommend Mark.”

— Catherine W., client

Where advisors most often bring us in

  • Beneficiary designations that contradict the estate plan. The account paperwork overrides the will — we coordinate the two so the plan your client thinks they have is the plan they actually have.
  • A client’s parent entering a nursing home. At roughly $98,820 a year private-pay in Missouri, a lifetime of your work can drain fast. Even after admission, it is usually not too late to protect a meaningful share.
  • Married couples who want Missouri’s special protections. A Missouri qualified spousal trust (RSMo § 456.950) can extend tenancy-by-the-entirety creditor protection into a trust — but only if it is drafted and funded correctly.
  • Gifting questions with tax consequences. Lifetime gifts of appreciated assets give up the stepped-up basis and can trigger Medicaid penalties. We help clients weigh that before they sign anything.
  • Probate and trust settlement. When a client passes, we handle the administration and keep you in the loop as accounts move.

How a referral works

Call us at (573) 334-5125 or have your client book an initial call. With your client’s permission, we are glad to coordinate directly with you so the legal documents and the financial plan tell the same story. Plain English, no complex gobbledygook — that goes for our conversations with you, too.
