It’s Not Too Late

Protect the House, the Farm, and a Lifetime of Savings from Nursing Home Costs

Medicaid crisis planning and asset-protection trusts for Southeast Missouri families — even if your loved one is already in the nursing home. It’s not too late.

Pain Points

Does This Sound Familiar?

If you are looking for an hourly, document-driven attorney, that is not Mark McMullin.  If you are looking for a trusted advisor who is driven to compassionately guide you and your family through the steps of creating an estate plan, becoming eligible for Medicaid, or managing the estate of a loved one, let’s talk.

Two Ways a Lifetime of Savings Disappears

A nursing home

$8,235 a month
$98,820 a year

Missouri’s average cost of private-pay nursing home care. Forty years of saving can be gone in two.

Or a year in probate court

Months of delay

A family can lose months and thousands of dollars in court — while they are still grieving, and still trying to manage their own lives.

Both are avoidable more often than families are told.

We Do One Thing, Deeply.

Protecting what Missouri families have spent a lifetime building — through asset-protection trusts, Medicaid crisis planning (spousal and family plans), wills and trusts, and probate. That focus is why other attorneys send us their toughest Medicaid cases.

What we don’t do: divorce or family law, criminal defense, traffic tickets, lawsuits, or personal injury. For those matters, the Missouri Bar’s free Find-a-Lawyer directory is the fastest way to the right attorney.

Welcome to the Law Office of Mark McMullin

My background is in finance. I came to this work sideways, and then found I couldn’t leave it.

Our clients are salt-of-the-earth people. They worked their whole lives, saved carefully, and what they want most is for it to make a difference for their children. There are two ways that gets taken from them. A nursing home can wipe out a lifetime of savings. Or a family can lose months and thousands of dollars in court at exactly the moment they are grieving.

Neither one is what anybody pictured. Nobody stands at an altar saying “I do” imagining the day they will have to move their husband into a facility.

I spent years at a general practice firm, and I used to think about the day I would have an office that did nothing but this — with processes built for it, and staff who know the answers when you call. That is the office we built. We don’t dabble.

Something I did not expect when I started: when a client passes away and I meet their children, I get to tell them what their parents said about them years before — that they wanted to make this easy on them. Watching that circle close has become one of the most meaningful parts of this work.

What Our Clients Say

“Almost all the correspondence with my wife’s case worker was handled by Mark and his team. I was able to focus on my wife’s nursing care and leave the stress to them. The result: instead of spending down all our hard-earned money, we were able to protect our assets.”

Larry S. Medicaid crisis planning

“My husband suffered a fall and ended up in a long term facility. We do not have any long term care insurance and I was not sure if there was a way to protect any of our assets. I decided to contact the Law Office of Mark McMullin. I am so glad that I did.”

Nola T. Spouse already in a facility

“A will doesn’t protect your estate from probate. You can’t just assume. Mark covers things you never knew you needed. He gave me peace of mind knowing that what I have worked for would be saved for my children.”
